Dale Irwin

Dale’s practice is devoted primarily to consumer protection law. He handles a variety of matters including fraudulent sales of rebuilt wrecks, odometer fraud, and unfair and deceptive automobile sales, financing, and repossession practices. He is an avid litigator driven by the philosophy, “Just seek justice for people and good things will follow.” His humble background has taught him the importance of fighting for the people who can least afford to be cheated out of their hard-earned money by businesses with little or no consciences.

Dale also represents consumers to enforce their rights under federal and state consumer protection laws. He’s had numerous successful class actions, including several cases against banks and finance companies challenging their repossession practices, payday loan companies challenging their lending and collection practices, a large national lender for interest overcharges on home mortgage loans, and automobile dealers for deceptive extended warranty charges, various “fee” overcharges and other unfair and deceptive practices.

He is a founding member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates, a nationwide group of attorneys dedicated to the practice of consumer law. He has taught consumer law as an adjunct professor at the UMKC School of Law. He has also taught and presented at various continuing legal education seminars, and is one of the authors of a deskbook on consumer law. He has been an active member of the Volunteer Attorney Project (VAP) of Legal Aid of Western Missouri since that program’s inception in 1982, providing pro bono representation to low-income consumers and advice and assistance to other VAP attorneys in the area of consumer protection law
